The "typical" coworker that appears in most people's mind's is a freelancer and/or self-employed person - especially from the tech or creation sectors. However, the reality has been changing for a long time and it is becoming increasingly apparent that more and more corporate companies are looking for coworking opportunities for their employees. We have summarized the reasons for this in the following article.

Those, who allow their employees to work remotely no longer have to pay rent for complete office buildings or floors with fully equipped workstations. And they sublet their available space in uncertain times - as Corona has shown - without suffering such a financial loss.

For many employees, flexible working means that they can work in a more self-determined manner and adapt their working environment to their individual work requirements. Remote working in a coworking environment represents an appreciation by the company, which offers an alternative to the home office.

The possibility of working flexibly, resulting from a remote position has a major positive impact on employees' work-life balance: they can manage their time more freely, save themselves from long commutes and gain more freedom for their private lives this way.

Rents in metropolitan areas

There are trending cities for companies depending on the type of industry: Many startups are drawn to Berlin and Hamburg in Germany, and to Silicon Valley and Seattle in the States. Since these are usually metropolitan areas, rents for office spaces are usually disproportionately high - for larger companies and for young startups as well.

Alternative workplaces such as coworking spaces can bring these high costs down to an affordable level. This is particularly advantageous when companies need to scale up quickly - or downsize again without suffering major financial losses.

Working remotely is the way of working of the future - this applies to both startups and long-established companies. It is an absolute employee benefit, which is already establishing in large companies such as Zalando and Google. Even the industrial conglomerate Siemens has introduced last year a 2-3 days a week mobile work situation for 140,000 employees.

Networks

Flexible working in coworkings and the exchange of employees from different sections and companies also enables a high level of cross-sector exchange. This can create new collaborations, knowledge transfer and builds a good network.
